Things to do at Texas
Pioneer Plaza Cattle Drive: A growing number of bronze, larger-than-life-size steers and their cowboy escorts moo've along Pioneer Plaza - adjacent to the Dallas Convention Center. This bronze cattle drive is located on the actual Shawnee Trail drive of the 1850s - and is the largest bronze monument of its kind in the world.
The Alamo: The Alamo is not only one of Texas' most important historical landmarks, it is also one of the state's most popular tourist attractions, with over 2.5 million visitors annually.
The building, which gained fame in the Texas Revolution, was originally built as a mission in 1718 near the headwaters of San Pedro Creek. It was moved twice, with the final move to its present location happening in 1724. These original buildings were already over 100 years old by the time the Battle of the Alamo occurred in 1836. At that battle, over 150 "Texians" died, including some of the state's most famous folk heroes such as Davie Crockett, Jim Bowie and William Barrett Travis.
